After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ryerson University and starting off her career in the Early Childhood Education field, Heather MacKeracher made a career change and joined Hill & Schumacher in 2012 as a Trademark Agent Trainee. Heather successfully passed the Trademark Agent Exam in 2017 and became an official licensed Trademark Agent in Canada in 2018. In 2017 Heather successfully completed the Legal Assistant Certification Program at George Brown College, with high honours. In 2022 Heather completed the Certified Canadian Patent Administrator Course through the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and wrote the exam that December, passing with a mark of 100%.
Heather is an active member with IPIC, continuing her professional development through a variety of webinars and courses that IPIC offers. In addition, she has previously served on the Trademark Legislative Committee and the Trademark Agent Training Committee.
Heather’s main roll at Hill & Schumacher is preparing, filing and prosecuting trademark applications. Heather also plays a large roll in preparing, filing, and prosecuting Industrial Design applications in Canada, under Nancy’s supervision. Lastly, Heather provides administrative support for many patent matters.
